Guide: This Is How You Can Add Up To 8 People On WhatsApp Video Call

In a latest development, WhatsApp has increased the limit of its video call feature from 4 to 8 people. Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the demand of staying connected has amplified a great deal. As a result, the tech giant has decided to provide the much-needed leeway to its humongous user base.

At the outset, the change was first seen on WhatsApp Messenger’s beta version. Later, the parent company of WhatsApp – i.e. Facebook – officially announced the development. In a Facebook blog post, the CEO Mark Zuckerberg said:

“More than 700 million daily actives use WhatsApp and Messenger for calling. In many countries, calling has doubled since the Covid-19 outbreak began. To help you stay connected with your whole family and groups of friends, we’re doubling the number of people who can participate in a group video call from 4 to 8 on WhatsApp”

How to add 8 people on WhatsApp video call?

This is how you can upsurge the WhatsApp video call limit from 4 to 8 people on both iOS and Android:

  • Tap on the WhatsApp Messenger on your device
  • Turn to the ‘call’ icon section
  • Click on ‘add call’
  • Select the person you want to video call
  • Tap on to the ‘video call’ icon or even ‘audio call’ icon
  • Add up to 6 more people and enjoy the connectivity

Another way out to add as many as 8 people [including yourself] is to sign up for WhatsApp TestFlight in case of an iOS user. However, Android users will be required to download WhatsApp beta.

Upon successful installation, make an attempt to add as many people. There could be a possibility that you may see a text which could read: you can add up to 7 participants. However, if you are unable to make connection with as many people then sit tight and wait for an official update from WhatsApp itself.
